About Our Farm
Our small family farm of 27 acres was purchased in1982 and since then has been the home of Panther Branch Vineyard. It is
located in the farming district of Vineland, NJ known as "New Italy", so named because it was settled by Italian immigrants over a
century ago. Peaches, a variety ofvegetables and even gladiolas have been grown here in the past. In 1983 we planted twenty
varieties of winegrapes and gradually nature told us which of these belonged here. Our Chambourcin & Vidal Blanc vines, now
over a quarter century old, came from that first planting. In 2000, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc and Viognier were added.
Since 1985, when we had our first harvest, Panther Branch Vineyard has been supplying local wineries & home winemakers with
grapes for wine.
With a current total of 2.7 acres of grapes, we are intentionally geared toward limited production, because we believe a small
size permits greater attention to detail. This small scale approach is our way of trying to insure that our winegrapes are of the
highest quality possible. Despite over a quarter century of viticulture here, experience has taught us that there is always more to
learn about the terroir of our land - its soil, our local climate and their interaction with our vines. So each year we try to adjust
our viticultural practices based on what we have learned, striving for a more "sustainable" method of viticulture. Ultimately, our
goal is to produce fruit and wines that are an honest, distinct reflection of our locale. Despite our decades of grape growing we
are still learning what those characteristics can be.
