Vintage Report:
2007 was a very good growing season. After a cool spring and a bit of a late start, the vines
caught up to where they should have been by mid- summer. The very dry conditions that
existed for the latter half of the season and throughout the harvest in the fall, produced
excellent conditions for ripening of the fruit. A very dry July, August and September also
resulted in virtually no problems with the troublesome fungus diseases that often plague
Eastern grape growers. Varietal characteristics developed very well on all varieties due to the
great weather and hopefully the wines that result will be as good as the conditions that
produced them.
We were fortuanate too to have an excellent period of flowering in the spring so that the fruit
set was almost ideal, resulting in very full clusters that looked picture perfect by harvest time.
Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better summer. We can't wait to taste the results in the
wine. Stay tuned!
